Hyderabad, Sept. 6 (Maxim News): Two separate mishaps during Ganesh idol immersion on Friday created panic among devotees in Telangana. The incidents occurred in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and at the Saroornagar tank in Hyderabad. Officials suspect technical failures and lack of safety checks as the main causes.
A major accident took place in Yadadri district when a massive Ganesha idol, being transported by crane, fell after the crane wire snapped. The idol crashed onto a tractor, trapping two devotees. Both were injured and rushed to the nearest hospital after a swift rescue operation by locals and police. The incident has raised concerns about crane safety and proper equipment maintenance during the immersion process.
In another case at Saroornagar tank, a similar technical failure occurred when the crane wire gave way while lifting a Ganesha idol. The idol fell, but fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Despite arrangements by the GHMC at the immersion site, the technical glitch caused alarm among devotees.
Police Advisory
Following these incidents, police and civic officials have urged devotees and organizers to take strict precautions during the immersion.
Authorities stressed the importance of checking the technical condition of cranes and related machinery before use.
To prevent further mishaps, GHMC and Hyderabad Police have reinforced safety at major immersion points, including Hussain Sagar and Saroornagar.
A total of 140 large cranes, 295 mobile cranes, and 30,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth and safe proceedings. (Maxim News)
