MLA disqualification: Speaker clears Danam, Srihari
MLA disqualification | Hyderabad, March 11: Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar rejected Telangana MLA disqualification petitions against Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari. He said there was no proof that they formally changed their party. So he dismissed the complaints.
The decision came after review of records and arguments. Earlier, similar petitions were filed against ten BRS MLAs. They faced claims of joining Congress after winning elections. However, the Speaker had already cleared eight MLAs. Now he has also cleared Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari.
Danam Nagender reacted to the decision on Wednesday. He said he did not break any rule under the Speaker authority. He also said BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao never asked him for an explanation. Moreover, he said the party discipline panel also did not issue any notice.
Danam also questioned the right of those who filed the petition. He asked what authority they had to complain. He further said the party never issued a whip against him. So he said he never worked against the party line.
MLA disqualification: Dannam Welcome Speaker Decision
Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender said he always respected Assembly rules. He said he acted within legal limits. Also, he said he followed due process at every step. Therefore, he welcomed the Speaker decision.
The Speaker order covers Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender. It also covers Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari. Both leaders had faced disqualification pleas. These pleas claimed they left BRS and supported Congress. However, the Speaker said the claims lacked proof.
The ruling now closes all ten petitions filed in this matter. Earlier, eight MLAs received relief in similar cases. With this order, all pending petitions now stand resolved. So the issue has reached closure for now.
The verdict has drawn mixed reactions in political circles. Leaders from different parties have shared their views. Meanwhile, debate continues over party defections. Therefore, the issue may remain in public discussion.
Party defections often lead to legal review. Courts and Speakers examine such cases. They check proof before action. So each case depends on facts and rules.
For now, the Speaker ruling has given relief to both MLAs. The decision allows them to continue as legislators. Also, it brings clarity to the present dispute. (Maxim News)
