Police raid resort in Maheshwaram during Diwali get-together
Twenty performers and fifty-six guests detained after mujra party
Hyderabad, Oct 15: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) conducted a surprise raid at a resort in Maheshwaram near Hyderabad on Tuesday night and busted a mujra party held under the guise of a Diwali get-together. Police detained twenty women dance performers and fifty-six men from the location during the operation.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the SOT team reached KCR Resorts and Convention where the private event was taking place. According to officials, two businessmen who own seed companies had organized the Diwali bash for their dealers. The invite list included fifty-six male attendees who were part of the group when the raid occurred.
Authorities stated that the organizers had secured permission to serve liquor and booked the resort for the celebration. However, the nature of the event turned controversial when the police found that a broker had brought in twenty women performers from the two Telugu States specifically for mujra dances.
Police detained the organizers, resort manager, and other attendees for questioning. Two cartons of liquor were confiscated from the premises during the raid. Officials confirmed that no drugs were found at the resort. A case has been registered against the businessmen who arranged the event and the resort manager for hosting the mujra party.
The investigation is now focused on the broker who arranged the performers and the organizers who allegedly misused the event permissions. Officials said they would scrutinize the permissions and verify whether any other rules were violated during the gathering. The Rachakonda SOT has intensified surveillance ahead of the festive season to curb similar unlawful gatherings in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
