Chennai, Oct. 17: Leading film personalities, including Kamal Haasan, Karthi, Nivin Pauly and Vijay Sethupathi, have expressed grief over the demise of veteran Tamil music director Deva. His sudden death has left the Tamil film industry in shock.
Kamal Haasan visited to pay his final respects and later shared a condolence message on X. He recalled Deva’s enthusiasm, infectious laughter and the joyful memories they shared while working on films such as Avvai Shanmugi, Pammal K. Sambandam and Panchatanthiram.

Kamal Haasan described Deva as a dear brother and offered heartfelt condolences to his family. He remembered the music director as someone who brought energy and joy to those around him.
Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly also paid tribute, saying Deva’s music would continue to echo through generations.
Tamil actor Karthi recalled Deva’s boundless energy and childlike innocence. He said the composer’s melodies and distinctive Chennai gaana music would remain part of people’s lives. Karthi also extended his condolences to Deva’s family and friends.
Actor Vijay Sethupathi described the music director’s death as painful. He said Deva had left a lasting mark on Tamil film music and that his songs would continue to live in people’s memories.

Singer Saindhavi expressed sadness over the sudden loss in an Instagram post. She described Deva as an extraordinary composer and a humble person whose contribution to the music industry would be remembered.
Saindhavi also recalled receiving her first song opportunity from Deva. Although the film is yet to be released, she said the experience would always remain special to her.
She offered condolences to Deva’s family, including his son Srikanth Deva. The tributes from actors and singers reflect the impact of Deva’s music and his contribution to Tamil cinema.
