Kolkata/Hyderabad, Sept 23 (Maxim News): A controversy over student attendance has led to the forced resignation of a Muslim professor from Surendranath College in Kolkata, under pressure from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). On the 11th of this month, some ABVP members surrounded the office of Vice Principal Mohammadi Tarannum for a whole day, prepared her resignation letter and forced her to sign it.
After the police safely escorted her out, ABVP members lit incense sticks and sprinkled Ganga water as if they were cleaning her office. Tarannum was the vice-principal of the college. 65 percent attendance is mandatory for students for semester exams. She made it clear that the attendance rule will definitely apply for the exams to be held on the 28th of this month. With this, it is believed that ABVP has pressured her to resign. (Maxim News)
