Name HMR after Jaipal Reddy: Revanth

Hyderabad, Sept. 30 (NSS): TPCC Chief A. Revanth Reddy today said former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy was responsible for the construction of Hyderabad metro rail (HMR) project. He said there was a need to rename the Hyderabad metro rail project after Jaipal Reddy.

Addressing a gathering after unveiling the statue of Jaipal Reddy at Madgula of Ranga Reddy district along with CPM party national general secretary Seetharam Yechury, the TPCC chief said Jaipal Reddy, who continued in politics for a long time, led his life without any blot. He said the statue of Jaipal Reddy would be set up on Necklace Road like the statue of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.

Revanth Reddy said it was Jaipal Reddy, who first fought on the issue of the provision of water to Ranga Reddy district through Kalwakurthi lift irrigation scheme. He said Jaipal Reddy never compromised on the problems of the Telangana State even after going to Delhi. He said Jaipal Reddy brought power to the remote villages of the State in the 70s.

Stating that it was impossible to do politics without criticising anybody, he said Jaipal Reddy made impossible as possible by never criticising anybody in his entire political life. He said they were the political heirs of Jaipal Reddy, irrespective of their political affiliations. He said Jaipal Reddy produced several leaders in his political life.

CPM leader Seetharam Yechuri said he first met with Jaipal Reddy during his student life. He said he was feeling it to be honoured for getting the opportunity to unveil the statue of Jaipal Reddy. He said he and Jaipal Reddy worked together for three decades. Commenting on contemporary politics, Yechuri said today’s politics was devoid of ideals and values and added that Jaipal Reddy stuck to his values till his last breath. He said the absence of Jaipal Reddy was a great loss to the country. He said the four pillars of democracy were being attacked by the ruling party at the Centre and added that there was a need to protect the institutions from such attacks while noting that such attacks could be stopped by following the ideals and values followed by Jaipal Reddy.
