National Herald Case Triggers New Political Clash

Hyderabad, Dec. 2: Delhi police registered a new FIR in the National Herald Case against several Congress leaders. Officers said the EOW acted on information from the Enforcement Directorate. They said the FIR named Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and six others. They also said the case alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Moreover, they claimed Young India gained control of AJL assets after paying only fifty lakh rupees. They said those assets carried a value of nearly two thousand crore rupees.

They said the case raised fresh political tension. They also said the allegations revived old debates. Furthermore, they said the probe created sharp reactions within Congress. Leaders questioned the timing. They said the government used agencies to target opponents.
