Native Language Are Mutually Enriching: Governor
Hyderabad, Nov.23 (Maxim News): Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said native language are mutually enriching. She stated that culture and the native languages are interlinked and reflect and benefit the other.
The Governor was delivering the valedictory address on the topic of “Language resources and cultural richness” as part of the online conference on “Path to Progress: National Education Policy-2020,” organised by the Samskrita Bharati, Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan termed the language as the instrument of culture and added that a language is not about the words, it is about the culture, tradition and a way of life for the speakers of that language.
“Language expands our thinking horizons. Language largely contributes for the growth and character of the speakers and in the process also gets enriched by its use,” she said.
Referring to the Sanskrit language, the Governor said that it had contributed for the enrichment of many languages and is found to be suitable for the computer language too.
The Governor pointed out that it was important to protect, patronise and promote Sanskrit language as it offers the access to treasure of our epics and heritage and the Vedas.
“Learning a new language is always beneficial, but at the same time it is our duty to promote our mother tongue too, as it would help the people to understand, think and learn the things better,” she added.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Samskrita Bharati in promoting the Sanskrit language with an objective to train the people speak fluently in Sanskrit.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi too has initiated a number of steps to promote and popularize Sanskrit and other classical languages in the country.
Samskrita Bharati southern region president Dr. R. Ramachandran, research wing co-ordinator Anuradha Shiva Kumar, North Tamil Nadu vice-president Dr. Jaya Dev, and noted Sanskrit scholar Dr. VV Subramanian and others were present. (Maxim News)
