New Ration Cards Distribution Begins Today in Telangana
New Ration Cards | Hyderabad, July 14: The long-awaited distribution of new ration cards in Telangana officially begins today, fulfilling a long-standing demand of lakhs of eligible beneficiaries across the state.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will kick off the distribution ceremony at Tirumalagiri in the Tungaturthi constituency of Suryapet district.
He will personally hand over ration cards to 11 selected beneficiaries at a special platform set up near the Tirumalagiri Tahsildar’s office. Following the distribution, the Chief Minister will address a massive public gathering.

This marks the start of a larger rollout in which 3.58 lakh new ration cards will be distributed to beneficiaries statewide.
Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Joint Nalgonda District In-charge Minister Adluri Laxman, MP Kiran Kumar Reddy, and MLA Samel will also be present at the event, which is being organized with grandeur.
Authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the public meeting, expecting a turnout of over 80,000 people.

This will take the total number of ration cards to nearly 96 lakh in the state, with the govt having to bear an additional expenditure of 1,200 crore per annum
The 96 lakh families would be eligible to draw not only the fine rice free of cost from fair price shops but also avail other benefits like free medical treatment in private and corporate hospitals of up to 10 lakh each under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme.
They could also seek fee reimbursement, obtain a domestic gas cylinder at 500, and benefit from the 200 units free electricity scheme where the maximum average consumption of the consumers was below 200 units.
Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs along with the officials would distribute these cards in their respective constituencies in the state.
Apart from increasing the number of ration cards in the state from 89.95 lakh to 95.56 lakh cards, it would take the total number of beneficiaries from 2.81 crore to 3.09 crore in the state.
