Hyderabad, Aug 10 (Maxim News): NIMS Hyderabad will provide completely free heart surgeries to children suffering from heart ailments from August 13, 2026, Director Prof. Rahul Devaraj said.
The special programme will be conducted under the leadership of Prof. Amareshwar, Head of the NIMS Cardiothoracic Surgery Department.
According to the NIMS Director, doctors from London will support the programme. Pediatric cardiac surgeon Dr. Ramana Tannashuneni and a team of technical experts will also assist the medical team.
NIMS has conducted the free pediatric heart surgery programme every year for the past five years. The initiative aims to help children who require cardiac surgery but may face financial difficulties.
Children will be examined through a walk in process. Doctors will assess each case and assign priority based on medical need.
The hospital will conduct the required diagnostic tests before deciding on surgery. Children who require an operation will receive the procedure free of cost under the programme.
Parents and guardians can approach the CT Surgery Office at NIMS for evaluation. The office is located on the first floor of the Old Block at NIMS, Punjagutta, Hyderabad.
The hospital will accept patients from Monday to Saturday. The walk in facility will remain available between 8 am and 2 pm.
NIMS has also provided a contact number for enquiries. Parents can call 040 2348 9025 for further information about the programme and the screening process.
The hospital has advised parents to bring previous medical reports if they have them. These records can help doctors understand the child’s medical history and plan further evaluation.
The programme brings together NIMS specialists and overseas medical experts for pediatric cardiac care. It also continues the hospital’s annual effort to provide free heart surgery to children.
