Opp Party Leader Taken Into Custody—Bandh Passes Off Peacefully

Hyderabad, Oct.19 (Maxim News): Left parties leaders Thammineni Veerabhadram, Dr Ch Sudhakar, Vimalakka and others were arrested at RTC Cross roads for staging protests in support of the RTC employees Strike and the Bandh call given for today.

Buses are not seen on the roads due to state bandh causing much inconvenience to people who stranded at several buses stations.

Leaders of different political parties forced business establishments, traders to close business for the state bandh, but the closure was only for some time.

The RTC JAC Convenor Ashwatthama Reddy has claimed that the state bandh was successful with support from political parties, peoples organizations and others. He demanded the state government to end the stir by holding talks. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should hold talks as directed by the Court, or else we will intensify the protests until our demands are met, Reddy warned.

At Bandlaguda Bus depot near Nagole the agitating groups attacked the temporary drivers and chased them. The police took some activists in to custody for the attack, and for deflating the bus tyres and removing diesel pipes.

BJP Chief K Lakshman along with party leaders Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and N Ramachander Rao and others staged protests at Abids and were arrested by the police. Laxman expressed displeasure at KCR for defying court directions to hold talks. ‘We are with RTC striking employees and will fight for their demands. The BJP will take dictatorial rule of KCR to the notice of the Centre’, he warned.

Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) Chief Prof Kodandaram, RTC JAC convenor were arrested at RTC Bus Bhavan for holding protest demonstrations. Kodandaram slammed the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for failing to call RTC JAC for talks. He said that the Chief Minister should call RTC JAC leaders to hold talks in a democratic manner.

TDP leaders L Ramana, R Chandrasekhar Reddy and others were arrested at Jubilee Bus Station for participation in the state bandh.

At several places, the police took into custody the leaders of political parties to prevent them from staging protests as part of state bandh.

On the 15th day of their strike, the RTC JAC has called for the state bandh in protest against the government’s indifferent attitude to hold talks on the demands of the employees. The buses were not plied despite officials using police force. (Maxim News)
