Other States Following TS Municipal Act: Minister

Hyderabad, Feb.10 (Maxim News): Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud today said the Telangana Municipal Act was being followed by other States. He said as per Section 66 of the Municipal Act, the government can suspend those neglecting duties or failing to complete works.

Speaking at a program in Mahabubnagar Municipal Council, the minister said newly elected mayors and chairpersons have to focus on development works. He asked them to be aware of the Municipal Act and work accordingly. He also said the Mahabubnagar Municipality was the first one in the State to set up 100 percent LED Bulbs. For this, the government has spent some Rs 100 crore to install 400 Electric polls to have LED Bulbs.

The minister said basic facilities and infrastructure are key for development in the municipal areas. The government was giving top priority for these being expected by people. “We will start a big hospital with 200 beds capacity”, he said.

Srinivas Goud also said Rs 15 crore to Rs 20 crore would be spent to construct new Rythu Bazaars. He promised to provide double bed room housing facility for journalists. He announced that the municipal council will be developed to create confidence among common man. (Maxim News)
