The students submitted a representation to OU Registrar Prof G Naresh Reddy on Friday, arguing that the move would enable the university to significantly increase the number of PhD seats.

They also demanded a uniform evaluation process for candidates who qualify through JRF, NET, and SET, proposing equal marks be allotted to all such candidates during the interview stage.

In addition, students highlighted inconsistencies in PhD application fees. According to them, departments under Arts and Social Sciences charge Rs 1,500, while Science and Education departments charge only Rs 500. They requested that the administration standardise the application fee structure across all departments

Among the student leaders who met the registrar were BRSV State secretary Jangaiah, AISF OU secretary Satya Nelli, AIOBC national secretary Mahesh, and ISF president Karan.
