Hyderabad, July 28 (Maxim News): With the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls fast approaching, more than 1.35 lakh voters in the Malkajgiri Assembly constituency are yet to submit their enumeration forms, posing a challenge for election officials.
Officials are intensifying efforts to trace eligible voters and complete the collection and digitisation of enumeration forms before the August 3 deadline. While the response has improved compared to the initial phase, a significant number of voters have either not submitted their forms or remain untraceable.
According to official data, Malkajgiri Assembly constituency has a total of 5,13,144 registered voters. The distribution of enumeration forms began on June 25 as part of the SIR exercise.
So far, officials have completed the digitisation process for 3,77,223 voters. Of these, 2,88,740 voters were physically verified, accounting for 56.3 percent of the total electorate.
Authorities identified 88,483 electors as Absent, Shifted or Dead (ASD) during the verification drive. The list includes voters who were unavailable during field visits, had shifted their residence or were found to be deceased.
Despite the progress, 1,35,921 voters are yet to respond by submitting their enumeration forms. With only a week remaining before the exercise concludes, officials acknowledge that completing the remaining verification and digitisation within the stipulated time will be a challenging task.
Election staff are working at dedicated centres to upload the received forms through the designated application and accelerate the digitisation process.
Officials also noted that some residents originally from Andhra Pradesh have declined to submit enumeration forms in Telangana, stating that they intend to retain their voting rights in their native places. In such cases, officials are collecting their voter identification details from their respective constituencies and updating the information in the application accordingly.
The Election Commission has urged all eligible voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms to do so before the August 3 deadline to ensure their names remain on the electoral rolls. (Maxim News)
