- Parliament Budget Session schedule and agenda discussed
Hyderabad: An all party meeting was held in New Delhi on Tuesday ahead of the Parliament Budget Session, which will begin on Wednesday. The meeting took place at 11 am in the Main Committee Hall of the Parliament House Annex. Floor leaders of various political parties from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha attended the discussion.
The all party meeting focused on coordination before the Parliament Budget Session. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju coordinated the meeting. Leaders discussed key issues related to the smooth conduct of the session. They also reviewed the broad agenda expected to come up during the sitting. Meanwhile, the government sought cooperation from all parties to ensure orderly proceedings.
The Parliament Budget Session this year will be held in two phases. The first phase will begin on January 28 and continue until February 13. The second phase will be held from March 9 to April 2. Therefore, the session will stretch over several weeks, covering important legislative and financial business. President Droupadi Murmu will address Parliament at the start of the Budget Session on Wednesday.
During the all party meeting, leaders discussed bills, legislations, and other agendas proposed for the Parliament Budget Session. The government shared its plans for handling legislative business across both phases. However, no specific details about individual bills were disclosed after the meeting. The discussion aimed to prepare the ground for debate and decision making during the session.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in Parliament on February 1. This year, February 1 falls on a Sunday. It will be a holiday for institutions across the country. Despite this, the Finance Minister will present the budget on that day. Many believe this is a rare event in the history of Parliament. Later, the budget proposals will be debated during the remaining days of the Parliament Budget Session.
The all party meeting is seen as a key step before the start of the session. It helps set expectations and encourages dialogue among political parties. Therefore, the meeting holds importance as Parliament prepares for crucial discussions in the coming weeks.
