Pashamylaram Fire Accident: Reactor Blast at Sigachi Chemical Plant Claims 35 Lives
Pashamylaram Fire Accident | Sangareddy, July 1: The death toll in the devastating industrial explosion at the Sigachi Chemical Plant in Pashamylaram has climbed to 35, with several others critically injured and some feared trapped beneath the rubble. Authorities say the number of casualties may rise further as rescue operations continue.
The explosion, which occurred on Monday in the Pashamylaram Industrial Estate, was triggered by a reactor blast inside the Sigachi facility. The powerful blast led to a massive fire and caused the collapse of the production building. Nearby structures also sustained damage, with visible cracks appearing due to the shockwave.

According to officials, 108 workers were present at the site during the incident. Of those injured, 11 remain in critical condition, receiving intensive care treatment. The blast was so forceful that it reportedly flung workers up to 100 meters away from the explosion site.
Vice President Among the Victims
Tragically, LN Govan, the Vice President of Sigachi Chemical Industry, lost his life in the incident. He had just entered the plant when the blast occurred, crushing his car under the debris.
Chaos and Grief at the Scene:
The scene turned emotional and chaotic as family members and relatives of the workers rushed to the site, desperately searching for their loved ones. Their cries echoed through the area, reflecting the scale of the tragedy.

Government Response and Safety Measures:
Minister P. Vivek announced that a committee on industrial safety will be formed soon to prevent such tragedies. He emphasized that if workers raise concerns about long working hours, the Labor Commission will launch an investigation.
Meanwhile, Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha expressed grief over the incident, calling it an unfortunate tragedy. He stated that officials from multiple departments acted swiftly following the explosion. He also noted that the plant was involved in the production of microcrystalline cellulose and had been operating for over 40 years.
Investigation Underway:
Authorities are continuing rescue and recovery efforts while a full-scale investigation into the cause of the blast is expected to begin soon.
