New Delhi, June 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Union government has worked over the last 12 years to make affordable and quality healthcare accessible across India and pledged to continue expanding health initiatives to build a healthier nation.
He said healthcare reforms have focused on reducing treatment costs and expanding access to essential services across the country.
Modi cites affordable healthcare and medical education expansion
Modi said schemes such as PM Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana have helped make medicines, cardiac stents and knee implants available at lower prices.
He also highlighted expansion in medical education. According to him, more institutions and additional seats have improved access for students pursuing medical studies and reduced the need to move far from home.
The Prime Minister added that public health efforts and wider social participation have strengthened India’s campaign against tuberculosis. He said diseases that once posed major public health challenges are gradually being brought under control.
Modi said the government intends to build on current progress and continue healthcare programmes aimed at improving medical access and outcomes across India.
