Pune, June 7: Police detained 156 people, including minors, during a raid on an alleged illegal rave party held in the Tulapur area of Pune, Maharashtra, early on Sunday. Authorities also seized drugs, liquor and other materials worth approximately Rs 85 lakh during the operation.
The event, reportedly named “Project X”, was being conducted at a bungalow resort under the jurisdiction of the Lonikand Police Station.
According to police, 156 individuals were present at the venue, including 107 men and 49 women. Officials said three of those detained were below 21 years of age.
Acting on a tip off, a police team comprising 15 officers and 65 personnel conducted the raid at around 2.30 am. Pune Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan said the party was being organised without the required permissions.
Investigators found that permission to serve liquor at the venue was valid only until 11.30 pm on Saturday. However, the party allegedly continued beyond the permitted time.
During the operation, police seized around three grams of ganja and recovered 10 packets of banned hookah flavours. Officials also confiscated liquor worth approximately Rs 9.22 lakh.
Police identified Aiman Sheikh of Blaze Entertainment and Yash Chaudhary of Star Light Entertainment as the principal organisers of the event. Investigators are examining their roles in obtaining permissions and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Authorities said legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigation is underway.
