Hyderabad, Sept.12 (Maxim News): Umesh Sinha, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Election Commission of India, today said poll preparedness in Telangana is on right line and the officials will take up door-to-door campaign to ensure that all the eligible voters given a chance to vote in the ensuing elections. “The CEO and district officials in Telangana are well prepared for the polls and the EC will announce the schedule”, he stated.
Addressing a press conference at Secretariat along with his team and CEO Rajat Kumar after a two-day visit to the poll-bound State, Umesh Sinha has said that the instructions have been issued to redress all the issues raised by political parties. As the Assembly was dissolved on Sept 6, we came to take stock of the situation and gauzing poll preparedness Sinha said adding that they will submit the report to EC on reaching Delhi. In turn, the EC will decide and announce the poll schedule.
“We have taken cognisance of the views of all political parties and will submit a report to the ECI to take a final call on the poll schedule”, he said. The district officials were instructed to provide chance to every eligible voter, check the mistakes, deletion of names, voter lists and other issues in two weeks. Copies of draft electoral rolls were given to all political parties and officials were asked to make corrections in 24 hours and inform the voters through messages.
On the first day, the EC team led by Umesh Sinha has earlier held discussions with the political parties most of which opposed the early polls. The team also held a review meeting on the poll preparedness in districts with the District Collectors and SPs. It was being said that with the team visit, the EC is expected to release the schedule in October second week and hold the elections in November last week.
Rajath Kumar said the Central team has met with Chief Secretary Dr SK Joshi and the Home Secretary and others on polls preparation besides holding talks with the political parties, Collectors and SPs. As per the EC directive and announcing the schedule the machinery is ready to hold the polls, he added. (Maxim News)
