Ponnam Says Govt Ignoring HC Orders

Hyderabad, May 14 (Maxim News): Senior Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar criticized the State Government for going ahead with Mallannasagar project works, in violation of the High Court orders.

Speaking to the media today, Prabhakar said that the High Court had made it clear that the works should be taken up only after paying adequate compensation to the affected farmers, whose lands were taken over. In spite of this, the Government is going ahead with the works even without paying the compensation to the farmers. The works are going on with the support of police, who were using force on the affected persons.

He said the Government was adopting a negligent attitude towards the apex court orders. He alleged that when the villagers of Mamidalapally agitated for compensation, police beat them up, and this shows that the Government has no respect towards the Court. (Maxim News)
