PPP In Assembly On Irrigation: KCR’S Sins Are A Curse For Telangana: Uttam

Hyderabad, Feb 12 (Maxim News): Discussion on Irrigation projects has started with the PowerPoint Presentation (PPP) in the Telangana State Assembly by the Congress government.

Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy said that during KCR’s tenure, Telangana was treated unfairly in the share of Krishna water. He said that the capacity of Pothireddypadu has been increased by giving G.O. 203. He said that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project has been taken up with a capacity of 3 TMC per day. It is said that the water that should come to Telangana is being diverted to Andhra illegally.  From 2004 to 2014, Srisailam reservoir received 10,665 TMC while after the formation of Telangana, 1200 TMC was diverted from 2014 to 2024. 

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that KCR’s sins have become a curse for Telangana. Uttam criticized the KCR government for failing to protect the state’s share in water shares. Uttam said that they want to distribute Krishna Water according to priorities. He said that there is no intention of handing over the projects to KRMB under any circumstances. Krishna water is the main life source of Telangana.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that after the formation of Telangana, 50 percent more water was illegally diverted to Andhra Pradesh.

The Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project with a capacity of 3 TMC per day has been taken up. 

Pothireddypadu regulator capacity was 44 thousand cusecs during YS tenure. increased to 92,500 cusecs in 2020.

some people (obviously referring to KCR’s family members) are creating misconceptions. 68 to 70 percent of the water lost to Telangana because of the BRS government 

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Telangana did not get the water it should have by gravity. He criticized the BRS government for doing injustice to the people of Telangana. Rs. 27,500 crores were spent and not even a single acre was given water. He questioned why the Board was not asked if 599 TMC was required including the projects under construction. The irregularities in irrigation projects in Telangana in these ten years have not happened in any state in independent India.

He lamented that the creation of the Telangana state has become meaningless. He said that AP Chief Minister Jagan praised KCR as a great man. Jagan in Andhra Pradesh has done a great injustice to Telangana by sticking with the government. Uttam flagged that the Nagarjuna Sagar project is certain to dry up due to the work done by BRS.
