The protest has brought attention to the issues faced by the students. The students complained that they were being served rotten chicken for breakfast, putting their health at risk. They also said that despite paying high bills for the mess, they were being unfairly treated, especially female students who asked for extra food.

The students also mentioned that there was no clean drinking water in the hostels and not enough staff to prepare proper food. They also expressed frustration that the university had not addressed their concerns, even though a new Vice-Chancellor had been appointed over two months ago.

STUDENT DEMANDS:

The students demand immediate improvements in food quality and regular inspections of hostel and kitchen facilities. Students have criticized the administration for not taking action, despite ongoing protests.

As of now, no official statement has been released addressing the issue. This isn’t the first incident at Osmania University. In November 2024, New Godavari Hostel residents protested over the watery ‘dal’ and bad ‘rotis’. In January 2024, female students found worms in their meals, causing anger.
