Raghunandan Rao Gets Second Threat Call From Suspected Maoists
Hyderabad/Sangareddy, June 29 (Maxim News): BJP Medak MP, M. Raghunandan Rao, received yet another threat call from suspected Maoist operatives, marking the second such incident in less than a week.
The fresh threat was made on Sunday, while the MP was recuperating at a private hospital following leg surgery. According to sources, two separate phone calls were made to the MP from different numbers.
The caller, believed to be associated with Maoist groups, claimed that five Maoist teams had been deployed to track and assassinate Raghunandan Rao. The voice on the call reportedly stated that these groups were acting under the instructions of the Andhra Pradesh Committee leadership, adding that they were aware police could trace the call as internet-based calling services were being used.
This alarming call comes days after a similar threat was issued to the MP on June 23, prompting Raghunandan Rao to lodge formal complaints with Sangareddy SP Paritosh Pankaj, Medak SP Dr. AV Srinivas Rao, and Telangana DGP Dr. Jitender.
Following the latest development, the MP once again contacted the authorities and shared details of the phone numbers and threat content, urging immediate action and enhanced security.
Security Measures Intensified
Police sources confirmed that they are treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Intelligence agencies have been roped in to trace the origin of the calls, while local police have tightened security around the MP.
Investigators are also probing whether there is a larger Maoist plot targeting political leaders, especially those vocal about extremist activities.
Political Reaction
BJP leaders in Telangana have condemned the threats and demanded that the state government ensure Raghunandan Rao’s safety. They also urged swift investigation and arrests of those behind the intimidation.
