Hyderabad, June 7: Deep earth excavation works around KBR Park in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills have been affected after rainwater accumulated at multiple construction sites following Saturday evening’s rainfall. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials said ongoing infrastructure works could face delays due to monsoon conditions.
Waterlogging was reported at excavation sites where work is underway for proposed flyovers and underpasses around the KBR Park area.
Deep earth excavation is currently in progress near KBR Park Gate No. 3 for the proposed four lane flyover connecting Jubilee Hills Check Post and Mugdha Junction. Following the rain, water stagnated in several excavated sections, preventing workers from carrying out civil works on Sunday.
Similar conditions were reported near the Indo American Cancer Hospital, Maharaja Agrasen Island, Film Nagar, and Road No. 45 in Jubilee Hills. Rainwater accumulation at these locations also affected ongoing construction activities.
Most of the excavation work is being carried out for the installation of pillars required for unidirectional and bidirectional flyovers planned around KBR Park.
A senior GHMC official said dewatering operations must be completed before further construction can continue. The official added that excavation work for most pillars has already been completed and the next stage involves cement concrete filling.
However, authorities indicated that continued rainfall during the monsoon season may slow the pace of work and lead to project delays.
