Hyderabad, August 27: Raksha Bandhan shoppers face a health risk this festive season. SOT Police raided an adulterated sweet unit in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The unit operated as Balaji Sweet House. Police arrested the operator and seized large quantities of harmful sweets and banned synthetic colours.
According to police, the raid targeted the Pocham ID Corridor area. Sweet demand rises sharply across Hyderabad ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
Furthermore, SOT and food safety teams launched special checks to stop adulteration during the festival period. They acted on specific information and hit the unit without warning.
Additionally, officers found banned synthetic colours in use inside the unit. These colours seriously harm human health.
Moreover, the production area was filthy and unhygienic. Officers were shocked by the conditions they saw. The unit also reused old cooking oil repeatedly to make sweets and fried snacks.

Furthermore, police identified the accused as Kamal, a native of Rajasthan.
He ran and operated Balaji Sweet House. Officers registered a case and took him into custody immediately. Consequently, all adulterated stock at the unit was seized on the spot.
Moreover, the sweets were packed and ready for supply to shops across Hyderabad.
The raid prevented this harmful stock from reaching consumers. As a result, the Raksha Bandhan public avoided exposure to dangerous adulterated sweets this season.
Meanwhile, police issued a firm public warning after the raid. Anyone playing with public health will face strict legal action.
Additionally, food safety officials urged people to buy sweets only from licensed and registered shops. They asked citizens to report suspicious sweet shops to the nearest police station immediately.
