Hyderabad, Oct. 27: Telangana BJP President Ramchander Rao has criticised Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for demanding a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He described the demand as baseless and accused the Opposition of misleading the public with allegations of voter deletions and vote theft.
Speaking on Tuesday, Rao questioned why the Congress wanted the revision process stopped without presenting evidence of alleged irregularities. He claimed that the exercise had progressed significantly and that the second phase had been completed in several states.
Ramchander Rao Challenges Congress Claims on SIR and EVMs
Rao said Congress leaders had repeatedly demanded a halt to the SIR process despite its progress. He claimed that the second phase of the exercise had been completed in Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, and that the overall process was nearing completion.

The BJP leader alleged that the Congress had failed to provide evidence showing where or how legitimate voters had been removed from electoral rolls. He said the party should present specific proof to support its allegations rather than demand a suspension of the exercise.
Rao also defended Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), pointing out that Opposition parties had won elections using the same voting system. He cited Himachal Pradesh and Kerala as examples.
He alleged that Opposition parties questioned the credibility of EVMs and the Election Commission of India primarily when the BJP won elections.

Rao maintained that the Congress should substantiate its claims with evidence and avoid creating confusion among voters. His remarks come amid an ongoing political dispute over electoral roll revision and allegations concerning the electoral process.
