Ration Dealers | Hyderabad, Sept. 4: The Telangana Ration Dealers Welfare Association has called for a statewide shutdown of ration shops on September 5, demanding immediate implementation of election promises made by the Congress and resolution of long-pending issues.
Addressing a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club on Wednesday, Association state president Battula Ramesh Babu said Congress had assured ration dealers a minimum monthly honorarium of ₹5,000 and an increase in commission.
He alleged that even after 21 months of coming to power, the government had failed to act on these promises.
He further demanded payment of commission dues pending from April to August for the distribution of central rice, in addition to arrears that have accumulated over the last ten years.

The association also sought health cards for the families of ration dealers and urged the government to bear shop rent and rice transport charges.
Ramesh Babu said the bandh call was to highlight the growing financial strain on dealers due to government inaction.
