Reactor Explosion Injures Nine At Pharma Lab In Nalgonda

Hyderabad, May 1: Nine workers were injured after a reactor explosion at a pharma unit in Perepalli village of Nalgonda district on Friday, officials said.

The blast occurred in Block 3 of a private laboratory unit, triggering panic.

Reactor Explosion Raises Safety Concerns

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Officials said one worker is in critical condition.

Sources indicated that several injured workers are migrants from other states.

The incident took place at a facility identified as Nosh Pharma on the outskirts of the village.

This is the second such accident reported at the same unit in recent weeks.

A similar reactor blast about 20 days ago had injured two workers.

Trade unions and locals raised concerns over safety standards at the unit.

They demanded a detailed probe into repeated incidents.

Officials said reactor explosions can occur due to pressure build up or temperature rise.

They added that faulty equipment or gas leaks can also trigger such incidents.

Unions have sought strict action against the management and compensation for victims.

They also urged authorities to conduct safety audits in pharma units across the district.
