Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 10 (Maxim News): Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has made it clear that the central government is ready for a comprehensive discussion in Parliament on the protests of students at Jantar Mantar in the national capital and the police action against them. He said today (Monday) that the center is ready to discuss every issue related to the student movement. However, he made it clear that the opposition should not create a ruckus to disrupt the proceedings of the House.
“The government is ready for a full-fledged and detailed discussion on the student movement and its consequences. However, when the discussion is going on, the opposition should not disrupt the House while the Home Minister or the government is answering. They should listen to the answer given by the Home Minister,” Rijiju said. For the past few days, the opposition has been demanding that Union Home Minister Amit Shah give an explanation in Parliament on the use of pellet guns in Delhi and AK-47s in Siwan, Bihar, during the student protests. In this context, the Union Minister’s statement has gained significance.
Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that the Center made this announcement in the wake of an article written by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and MP Rahul Gandhi in a national newspaper. In the article, Rahul Gandhi criticized Home Minister Amit Shah for not ordering any inquiry or even making an announcement about the police action against the students. He alleged that his silence makes it clear that the Home Minister is condoning the attack on the students. He said that the opposition parties are giving notices every day for a discussion on this issue in Parliament, but they are rejecting them.
Rahul Gandhi accused the government of taking strict action to suppress the student protests. He said that students in Delhi were attacked with tear gas, nail-studded batons and pellet guns were used. The MP also raised questions about the use of AK-47 in Siwan, Bihar. He was angry that the government was not coming forward to discuss the protests taken up by students against irregularities in the NEET exam.
