Hyderabad, May 14: Sai Bhageerath moves High Court in POCSO case seeking interim bail and questioning the age of the complainant.
Sai Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, filed the petition before the Telangana High Court.
In his plea, he argued that the complainant is not a minor. His legal team cited details from a 2021 case in Nirmal district to support the claim.
The defence said the girl’s age was recorded as 15 in 2021. Based on this, they argued she would not be a minor in 2026.
The issue of age is expected to become central to the case. The court is scheduled to hear the matter on May 14.
A case under the POCSO Act was registered on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station. The complaint was filed by the girl’s family alleging sexual assault.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Sirgapoor Niranjan Reddy is expected to represent Bhageerath in court.
The High Court is currently functioning under summer vacation benches. The plea has been listed before the vacation bench for hearing.
The case has drawn political attention in Telangana. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
