The proposal is part of a broader plan to provide both free and paid medical services at the hospital. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha recently reviewed the proposal with officials of the Health Department.

Sanath Nagar TIMS to Offer Treatment Under Private Insurance

Government hospitals in Telangana, including major institutions, currently offer free and paid services. However, treatment through private insurance policies is generally not available. The proposed model at TIMS aims to bridge that gap by allowing patients to access healthcare services through private insurance coverage.

Sanath Nagar TIMS has been developed with advanced infrastructure and facilities comparable to corporate hospitals. The hospital has a capacity of 1,000 beds, including 300 beds reserved for emergency medical services.

The facility will house 29 super specialty departments, including cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, and nephrology. It will also feature eight VIP suites, 92 single rooms, and 100 double sharing rooms equipped with corporate level amenities.

Although the hospital was initially expected to open on Telangana Formation Day, Health Department officials indicated that the inauguration is likely to take place on June 11 due to pending works.

Officials are also seeking accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH), which is expected to support the implementation of private insurance based treatment services.

Under the proposed model, 70 percent of the beds will be reserved for free treatment under government schemes such as Arogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). The remaining 30 percent of beds are expected to be allocated for paid services and patients covered by private health insurance.

The initiative is being viewed as a new healthcare model that combines public welfare with expanded treatment options within a government-run institution.
