Shabbir Ali Visits Bibi Ka Alawa, Announces Permanent Elephant for Muharram Processions
Hyderabad, July 5 (Maxim News): Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir visited the historic Bibi Ka Alawa in Dabeerpura on Saturday, offering dhatti and floral tributes to the revered Bibi-Ka-Alam-e-Mubarak, as part of Muharram commemorations honoring the supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions at Karbala.
Shabbir Ali was joined by Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Waliullah Sameer, TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, and other senior Congress leaders during the solemn visit. The leaders paid rich homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for justice, truth, and righteousness, a legacy remembered by millions across the world and especially in Hyderabad.
While addressing the media, Shabbir Ali condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, calling the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children, by Israel “inhumane.” He urged the global community to speak out and act collectively to stop such atrocities.
Highlighting the Telangana government’s efforts for ensuring peaceful and respectful Muharram observances, Shabbir Ali revealed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has approved the procurement of two permanent elephants to be used during state religious and cultural events, including Muharram processions. This decision ensures that age-old traditions like the carrying of the Bibi Ka Alam on an elephant continue without disruption.

He appreciated the Hyderabad district administration and police for their meticulous arrangements — including security, sanitation, and emergency services — allowing thousands of devotees to participate smoothly in the rituals.
“Hyderabad’s Muharram is a beacon of communal harmony and spiritual devotion, drawing participants from all faiths,” said Shabbir Ali. “The Congress government is committed to upholding these rich traditions and will extend full support to ensure they continue with dignity and peace.”
The Bibi Ka Alawa procession, steeped in history from the Qutb Shahi and Nizam eras, remains one of the city’s most significant and culturally unifying events.
