Hyderabad, Sept. 23: Telangana voters receiving notices during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls must submit documents based on their date and place of birth.
The Election Commission of India has specified different document requirements for voters born in India before July 1, 1987, between July 1, 1987 and December 2, 2004, and after December 2, 2004.
SIR Documents Required From Telangana Voters
Voters born in India before July 1, 1987, need to submit one document for themselves from the ECI’s specified list.
Those born between July 1, 1987 and December 2, 2004, must provide one document each for themselves and either their father or mother.
Voters born after December 2, 2004, must provide documents for themselves, their father and their mother.
If either parent is not an Indian citizen, the voter must also submit that parent’s valid passport and visa showing their status at the time of the voter’s birth.
Voters born outside India must submit proof of birth registration issued by an Indian Mission abroad.
Those who acquired Indian citizenship through registration or naturalisation must submit their citizenship registration certificate.
The ECI’s indicative list includes government or PSU employee identity cards and pension payment orders.
It also includes government, local authority, bank, Post Office, LIC and PSU documents issued in India before July 1, 1987.
Other accepted documents include birth certificates, passports and recognised matriculation or educational certificates.
Permanent residence certificates, Forest Rights Certificates and SC, ST, OBC or other caste certificates are also included.
The list further covers National Register of Citizens records, where applicable, family registers and government land or house allotment certificates.
For Aadhaar, the ECI said separate directions issued on September 9, 2025, will apply.
Meanwhile, the ECI’s 2026 SIR schedule places Telangana’s draft electoral roll publication on July 31. The claims and objections period ran until August 30, while the notice and disposal phase continues until September 28. The final electoral roll is scheduled for October 1.
