Hyderabad, Sept. 22: Indian opener Smriti Mandhana became the first woman cricketer to score 11,000 international runs on Tuesday.
She reached the milestone during India’s Asian Games 2026 final against Sri Lanka in Nisshin, Japan.
Mandhana entered the match needing 13 runs to complete the landmark. She reached the mark early in her innings with a six.
She went on to score 79 runs from 45 balls, including five fours and seven sixes. Her innings helped India post 216 for three.
Smriti Mandhana Sets 11,000 Run Record
Mandhana’s latest achievement adds to her record as the leading run scorer in women’s international cricket.
She had already become the highest run scorer in women’s T20 internationals during the Asian Games semifinal against Bangladesh.
Her 11,000 run milestone came during a 99 run opening partnership with Shafali Verma in the final.
India then bowled Sri Lanka out for 69 runs to win the final by 147 runs.
The victory gave India its first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games and helped the team retain the women’s cricket title.
