Making these controversial comments, stating that India is a shining example of democracy in the world.  Sam Pitroda said. “The people of the country have lived for 75 years in a very happy environment where they could live together without the occasional fights.

Pitroda, in an interview described democracy in India. “We have lived for 75 years in a very happy environment where people could live together, barring a few quarrels here and there.  “We can put together a country as diverse as India, where the people in the east look like Chinese, the people in the west look like Arabs, the people in the north look like whites, the people in the south look like Africans.

He said that people of India respect different languages, religion, food – customs, which varies from region to region. This is the India I believe in, where everyone has a place. Everyone compromises a little bit, says Sam Pitroda.

Earlier, Sam Pitroda started the controversy by talking about the concept of inheritance tax in America.  they need to be discussed.

In America, there is an inheritance tax. If a person owns wealth worth 100 million USD, when he dies he can transfer only 45 per cent to his children, 55 per cent will be taken over by the government. This is an interesting law. You have acquired wealth in your generation. You are leaving now, you must leave your wealth for the people.  Not the whoe, but half of it, which seems fair to me, Pitroda said.

After the comments sparked controversy, Pitroda tried to play down the issue by saying he was only citing inheritance tax in the US as an example.

Who said we will take 55 per cent? Who said such things should be done in India? Why are the BJP and media afraid?  I mention the US inheritance tax in the US in my usual conversation on TV as just one example.  Did I not mention the facts?  I spoke about issues that people should discuss.  It has nothing to do with the policy of any party including the Congress, “Pitroda said in his post on X.
