Delhi Police Reserve 20 Percent Posts for Ex Agniveers

Hyderabad, March 29: Delhi Police reserve 20 percent posts for ex Agniveers as the Ministry of Home Affairs approved new recruitment rules. The move aims to integrate trained personnel into law enforcement roles.

According to the notification, ex Agniveers will get 20 percent reservation in constable executive posts. In addition, they will receive age relaxation and exemption from the physical efficiency test.

The upper age limit now extends by three years for eligible candidates. Moreover, the first batch of Agniveers will get an additional five year relaxation. Therefore, their maximum age limit can reach 30 years.

The Lieutenant Governor approved amendments under the Delhi Police Act, 1978. These changes modify recruitment rules for constable executive posts. As a result, the policy aligns with efforts to absorb ex Agniveers.

The notification lists 42451 posts for 2024 under Group C category. The pay scale falls under Level 3, ranging from Rs 21700 to Rs 69100. However, vacancies may vary based on workload.

Existing rules on qualifications and disqualifications remain unchanged. Meanwhile, the government retains the power to relax provisions when required.

The policy also continues reservations for SC, ST, OBC, ex servicemen, and sportsmen. Therefore, existing benefits will not change under the new rules.

Officials said the decision will support career opportunities for ex Agniveers. Moreover, it will strengthen Delhi Police with trained personnel. The rules take effect from the date of notification.
