Srisailam, August 8: Flood inflows at the Srisailam project continued on Saturday as 2,32,308 cusecs of water entered from Jurala amid rains upstream.
The project reached a water level of 876.20 feet against its full reservoir level of 885 feet. Its current storage stood at 169.46 TMC against the full capacity of 215.80 TMC.
Authorities stepped up power generation at the right and left bank hydropower stations. They released 66,460 cusecs downstream towards Nagarjuna Sagbar.
Officials also released water for several irrigation schemes. The Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme received 1,133 cusecs.
The Pothireddypadu Head Regulator received 8,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, the Handri Neeva Lift Irrigation Scheme received 875 cusecs.
Rising Krishna flows put focus on water management
The latest inflows reflect strong water movement in the Krishna basin following rainfall upstream. The continuing flow has also increased attention on reservoir management in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
