State Govt To Should Purchase Orange And Lemon Crop: Sanjay

Hyderabad, April 7 (Maxim News): State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said state government to help farmers of orange and lemon who have been facing problems for marketing their products in view of lockdown in the country.

Sanjay said orange and lemon farmers have been struggling to transport their product to Nagpur following lockdown announced by the government in the country to fight against coronavirus. Nagpur in Maharashtra is the only biggest market for these products for the southern states and farmers are taking their products every year to Nagpur market for getting good price, he said adding that when the farmers are preparing to transport their product to Nagpur, the sudden lockdown to prevent spread of coronavirus has added more problems to them. Neither they transport their product to Nagpur market nor they sell it in open market due to lockdown, Sanjay said.

The state government should immediately take steps to purchase orange and lemon crop from the farmers to mitigate their problems, the state BJP chief said.

The centre as well as state governments are taking effective measures against covid-19. There was a ray of hope in the farmers when chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao recently asked people to take Vitamin-C particularly orange to increase their immune system to fight coronavirus. They wanted government to purchase their products. The government should come forward to purchase orange and lemon products and supply it through public distribution shops which would not only a help to farmers , it would also good for health of people at this juncture, Sanjay said.

The state BJP president appreciated CM KCR who brought to the notice of PM Narendra Modi about scarcity of gunny bags in the state yesterday. The state recorded good record of kharif crop( paddy) this year. The government should take steps to purchase the paddy in village level. (Maxim News)
