Stock Market Today: Oil, Yields Surge, Investors Stay Bullish

Despite these risks, many investors continue to support stocks, citing corporate earnings and the ongoing AI investment cycle.

US Treasury yields have climbed sharply, with the 10-year yield moving above 5% on Tuesday.

The rise has added pressure to financial markets as investors await the US Federal Reserve’s latest interest-rate decision.

Oil prices have also moved above $100 a barrel amid continuing geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions linked to the Iran war.

Higher energy prices have raised concerns about inflation and their potential impact on economic growth.

Stock market today remains focused on AI and earnings

Despite the market risks, investors remain positive about corporate earnings and AI-related spending.

The S&P 500 has gained 10.8% so far this year, while the Nasdaq is up 11.8%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has advanced 8.4%.

A Bank of America fund manager survey showed that investors’ overweight allocation to stocks declined to 49% from 56%. Cash allocations also increased to 3.9% from 3.5%.

The survey identified a disorderly bond-market sell-off as a major tail risk. At the same time, investors continued to cite corporate earnings, economic growth and the AI investment cycle as important sources of confidence.

AI-related stocks have also faced fresh concerns over valuations and AI safety.
However, strong demand for AI chips remains a key theme for the technology sector.

Markets are now closely watching the Federal Reserve’s decision and signals on future interest rates.

The combination of elevated oil prices, higher yields and continued AI investment is shaping the outlook for stock market today. (Maxim News)
