Students Protest As Private Colleges Remain Shut For Third Day
Hyderabad, Nov 5 (Maxim News) : The indefinite shutdown of private higher educational institutions in Telangana entered its fourth day, as the management intensified their demand for the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues from the state government.
The protest, called by the Federation of Private Educational Institutions, continued across districts, disrupting classes and examinations.
Federation Chief Ramesh stated that despite repeated appeals, the state government had not responded to their concerns over fee reimbursement arrears.
He said that with no positive action forthcoming, the bandh had become the only option. “We have been patient long enough, but the government’s silence has left us with no alternative,” Ramesh remarked.
He explained that more than ₹10,000 crore in dues were pending and urged the government to release at least 50 percent of the amount immediately to ensure college operations could resume.
The delay, he said, had driven institutions into a severe financial crisis, making it impossible to pay teaching and non-teaching staff.
Meanwhile, student unions across multiple districts also launched protests, demanding the timely release of both fee reimbursement and scholarship amounts.
Many students expressed concern over the disruption of academic schedules and examinations.
Ramesh added that with most faculty members unavailable due to the ongoing bandh, conducting exams had become unfeasible.
The federation appealed to the state government once again to clear the dues in phases over the next ten months to stabilize the situation.
Until then, private colleges are likely to continue their indefinite closure, intensifying pressure on the administration to address the financial impasse. (Maxim News)
