Hyderabad, August 29: Telangana minister Ponnam Prabhakar has assured residents that Suraram village will receive priority in development and public services.
The minister visited Suraram village in Elkathurthi mandal of Hanumakonda district. He took part in the ‘Palle Palleku Ponnam Anna, Palle Palleno Praja Palana’ programme.
During the visit, Ponnam Prabhakar received petitions from residents. He also spoke with officials and directed them to address public grievances without delay.
Under various welfare schemes, Suraram has received several benefits through the government’s public administration programme. These include 26 Indiramma houses and 475 pensions.
Furthermore, 665 families received free electricity up to 200 units. Officials also provided 158 new ration cards to eligible families.
The village also benefited from farmer loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa schemes. Eligible families received support under Kalyana Lakshmi and other welfare programmes.
Bus Service and Infrastructure Works Assured
Residents requested a direct RTC bus service between Huzurabad and Hanumakonda through Suraram. In response, the minister directed officials to take steps towards operating the service.
He also assured residents that authorities would work on a bridge and road between Suraram and Poladpally. Drainage works and other local infrastructure projects would also receive attention.
The minister said the government had already undertaken development works worth about Rs 60 lakh in the village. He assured residents that officials would complete the remaining works in phases.
Meanwhile, he urged farmers to focus on dryland crops and oil palm cultivation. He also asked residents to build soak pits to help conserve groundwater.
The minister said the government distributed 1,200 steel bank kits to reduce plastic use in the village. He also announced plans to establish an open gym to encourage young people to take up sports.
Ponnam said the process of issuing ration cards to all eligible applicants continues. He stressed that eligible residents do not need political recommendations to receive the cards.
He also urged residents to remain alert about the electoral roll. He said no eligible voter should lose their name from the voter list.
Residents should immediately seek corrections if they find errors in the electoral roll, he said.
Ponnam assured the people that he would remain accessible to address their concerns. He also directed officials to respond promptly to issues raised by villagers.
