Hyderabad, August 29: Former YSR Congress Party leader and former Rajya Sabha member V Vijaya Sai Reddy has launched a sharp attack on the party leadership.
In a lengthy open letter, he rejected allegations that he acted as a “traitor” and criticised the party’s leadership circle.
Sai Reddy said he remained loyal to YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said he gave up his Rajya Sabha term and party membership because of the prevailing situation.
He also announced that he plans to launch a new political party soon. Sai Reddy said he would enter the people directly and pursue a democratic political path.
He claimed that he could have avoided legal troubles if he had chosen to compromise with the Congress earlier. He also recalled that he and Jagan spent about 15 months in jail.
Sai Reddy alleged that Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy had gained excessive influence within the YSRCP. He claimed that Sajjala had become a key power centre and stood between Jagan and several party leaders.
He further alleged that legislators, MPs and ministers faced difficulties in securing appointments with Jagan. Sai Reddy also blamed Sajjala for creating distance between Jagan and members of his family.
Sai Reddy Alleges Internal Pressure and Political Deal
Sai Reddy referred to the 2022 Mangalagiri plenary and alleged that Sajjala physically confronted him during the event. He claimed that Jagan did not intervene at the time.
He also alleged that pressure from the party’s inner circle led to his removal from key responsibilities and the core committee. Sai Reddy said he faced 74 incidents that he considered humiliating.
The former MP also raised allegations about Sajjala’s relationship with the Telugu Desam Party. He questioned why Sajjala’s name had not appeared in any chargesheet during the TDP government’s two and a half years in office.
However, these claims remain allegations made by Sai Reddy in his open letter. The source material does not include a response from Sajjala or the YSRCP leadership.
Sai Reddy said senior leaders including Peddireddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, YV Subba Reddy and Mithun Reddy could not accept reporting to Sajjala. He said his self respect prevented him from accepting such an arrangement.
He said he chose resignation rather than remain in the party while engaging in what he called covert politics. Instead, he said he would fight through democratic means among the people.
Sai Reddy also urged YSRCP workers and Jagan supporters to decide for themselves who the real traitors were. He said he would reveal more details before the media soon.
His announcement of a new political party could open a fresh chapter in Andhra Pradesh politics. It could also create new political alignments among leaders and supporters outside the YSRCP.
