Hyderabad, May 18: Narendra Modi was honoured with Sweden’s highest civilian award, the “Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross,” during his visit to Stockholm on Sunday.
The honour marks the 31st international award received by the Prime Minister from foreign nations during his tenure.
PM Modi arrived in Gothenburg as part of a two day official visit to Sweden at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
PM Modi begins Sweden visit
During the visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Swedish leadership on strengthening cooperation in trade, technology, green energy, innovation, defence, and strategic partnerships between India and Sweden.
Officials said the discussions will also focus on expanding collaboration in sustainability, digital innovation, clean technology, and investments.
The Royal Order of the Polar Star is among Sweden’s most prestigious honours and is awarded in recognition of exceptional international service and contributions to bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister’s Sweden visit forms part of his broader diplomatic outreach to strengthen India’s ties with European nations and deepen strategic partnerships across sectors.
