Hyderabad, May 25: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the State government is continuing grain procurement despite what he described as a lack of cooperation from the Central government.
The Chief Minister made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of leaders from the Communist Party of India at the Secretariat on Monday.
The CPI delegation was led by MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao. Several party leaders, including MLCs Satyam and Pashya Padma, also attended the meeting.
Telangana CM Discusses Maize Procurement
During the interaction, CPI leaders thanked the Telangana government for increasing minimum wages for workers and discussed several public issues with the Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy said maize production was high this year and added that the Centre was not procuring maize from farmers.
He stated that the Telangana government had decided to continue maize procurement even if it resulted in financial losses to the State.
According to the Chief Minister, the government’s priority is to protect farmers and ensure that agricultural produce is purchased without causing hardship to cultivators.
The meeting also included discussions on welfare measures, labour issues and procurement operations across Telangana.
