Hyderabad, July 27 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has issued orders introducing the Telangana Family Register for ration card holders, aiming to simplify access to authenticated family records and reduce paperwork in government services.
The decision follows a representation made by AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
The Revenue Department issued G.O.Ms. No. 172 on July 25, 2026, creating a statewide electronic Telangana Family Register.
The register will be maintained digitally and integrated with the Food Security Card (ration card) database to ensure reliable and authenticated family information.
According to the government order, the Family Register will include the Family Register Identification Number, which will be the same as the ration card number.
It will also contain the name of the head of the family, details of all family members, their relationship with the family head, age, date of birth, gender and the family’s complete residential address.
The government clarified that the Family Register is only a record of family composition based on the Food Security Card database. It does not confer any legal right, title or interest in property, nor can it be treated as proof of legal heirship. It also does not automatically make any person eligible for government welfare schemes.
Citizens can apply for a Telangana Family Register Certificate through Mee Seva centres, the Mee Seva online portal or the mobile application after paying the prescribed service charges.
Applications can be submitted by any adult family member, and family members who attain the age of 18 can also apply for a copy of the register.
The certificate will be issued in a digitally signed format by the concerned Tahsildar. The Tahsildar will verify the application using the Food Security Card database before approving it.
The government has directed officials to process and dispose of applications within two working days from the date of receipt.
The Commissioner of Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) has been instructed to integrate the Mee Seva platform with the Civil Supplies Department’s Food Security Card database through an Application Programming Interface (API).
The Commissioner of Civil Supplies has been directed to provide the necessary access to facilitate seamless verification.
The government has also instructed all District Collectors, Revenue Divisional Officers, Sub Collectors and Tahsildars to ensure effective implementation of the new service across the state.
The initiative is expected to provide citizens with a single authenticated family record for various administrative purposes while making access to family-related documents faster, more transparent and convenient through the Mee Seva platform. (Maxim News)
