Telangana High Court Defers Kaleshwaram Report Plea Hearing

PC Ghose Commission report | Hyderabad, Jan. 19 (Maxim News): Telangana High Court on Monday deferred the hearing on petitions seeking to quash the PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Project to February 25.

The court heard together multiple petitions challenging the PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Project.

Former Chief MinisterK Chandrashekar Rao, former minister T Harish Rao, former chief secretarySK Joshi, and IAS officer Smita Sabharwal filed separate petitions.

However, the court clubbed them for joint hearing. Senior counselC Aryama Sundaram appeared forK Chandrashekar Rao and Harish Rao.

Meanwhile, the state government has already filed its counter affidavits. The petitioners, in turn, submitted their replies to the government counter.

During the hearing, Advocate General sought additional time to file written submissions responding to the petitioners’ replies.

Therefore, the High Court granted time until February 20 for filing written submissions. Subsequently, the court adjourned the matter to February 25 for further hearing.

Importantly, the Telangana High Court made it clear that no action should be taken based on the PC Ghose Commission report until the next hearing.

The court issued this direction to maintain the status quo. The petitions specifically seek to set aside the PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Project.

The commission had submitted its findings earlier, following an inquiry into the project. However, the details of the report’s conclusions were not discussed during the hearing.

Meanwhile, the High Court emphasized procedural fairness. It allowed both sides adequate time to complete their written arguments. The bench noted that written submissions are necessary before proceeding further.

As a result, all eyes are now on the next hearing scheduled for February 25. Until then, the court’s direction restrains the state from initiating any action based on the PC Ghose Commission report.
