The state government informed the court that the process to appoint a full time DGP is already underway. Therefore, the court chose not to pass any immediate directions at this stage.

The petition was filed by Dhanagopal Rao. He argued that Shivadhar Reddy’s appointment violates earlier guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India. He requested the court to cancel the appointment and direct the government to appoint a regular DGP immediately.

The matter came before Justice B Vijaysen Reddy. After considering the government’s submission, the court stated that no interim relief could be granted now.

Meanwhile, the High Court adjourned further hearing of the case to April 27. As a result, attention has now shifted to the next hearing.

The issue has gained significance because the state is currently functioning under a temporary DGP arrangement. Therefore, the upcoming proceedings may become crucial for the final appointment process.
