The facility, established at T-Works with technical collaboration from Japan’s Toho Koki, was inaugurated on Saturday by State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

First-of-Its-Kind Facility in India

The CMP Pad Technology Hub is expected to boost India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities by providing access to a critical technology used in chip fabrication.

Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) pads play a vital role in the semiconductor manufacturing process by ensuring the precision polishing required during chip production.

Training and Research Support

The newly established hub will serve as a centre for:

  • Advanced semiconductor technology training.
  • Research and development.
  • Product prototyping.
  • Support for startups.
  • Skill development for students and researchers.

The initiative aims to strengthen the domestic semiconductor ecosystem by creating opportunities for innovation and indigenous technology development.

Domestic Manufacturing Planned

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Sridhar Babu said the Telangana government is working towards commencing domestic manufacturing of CMP pads within the next 18 to 24 months.
