Hyderabad, July 3: The Telangana government’s newly introduced QR code based entry system at the Secretariat ran into technical problems within 24 hours of its launch, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend the facility until the issue is resolved.
The problem surfaced after visitors stopped receiving the One Time Password (OTP) required to generate their QR codes. As a result, the government put the QR code entry system on hold and directed the MeeSeva department to fix the technical issue immediately.
The Telangana government introduced the QR code entry system on Thursday to strengthen security at the Secretariat and prevent unauthorized access by unidentified individuals and fraudsters.
Under the new system, visitors seeking entry into the Secretariat are required to obtain approval from the office of the concerned minister or official. Once the request is approved, a unique QR code is sent to the visitor’s registered mobile number through an SMS.
At the Secretariat entrance, Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel scan the QR code before allowing visitors inside the premises.
However, the system encountered technical difficulties just a day after its rollout. Since OTPs were not being delivered to visitors, QR codes could not be generated, disrupting the entry process.
Officials have instructed the technical team and MeeSeva authorities to restore the service at the earliest. The government is expected to resume the QR code entry system after the glitches are rectified.
The temporary suspension has come as an embarrassment for the administration, as the technology-driven security initiative was introduced with considerable importance to modernize access control at the Telangana Secretariat. (Maxim News)
