Hyderabad, June 15: Telangana will undertake a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from June 25 to ensure the voter database is accurate and up to date. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharshan Reddy announced that the exercise will be carried out in three phases before the door-to-door survey begins across the state.
The Election Commission has already initiated preparations for the large-scale voter verification drive. Officials said the revision aims to update voter information, identify eligible voters, and remove discrepancies in electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
Three-Phase Preparation Plan
According to Sudharshan Reddy, preparatory activities will be conducted between June 15 and June 24 in three phases.
In the first phase, district election officers will prepare detailed action plans on how the SIR survey should be conducted. Responsibilities of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and supervisors will also be finalized.
The second phase will focus on training election personnel. A total of 867 AEROs, 3,596 BLO supervisors, and 35,985 Booth Level Officers will undergo extensive training. Officials will receive instructions on voter enumeration procedures, submission and verification of forms, and handling voter-related applications.
Training sessions will cover the processing of Form 6 for new voter registration, Form 7 for deletion of names, and Form 8 for corrections and updates in voter details. Officials will also be trained on online data entry procedures through detailed presentations and practical sessions.
Enumeration Forms to Be Printed
During the third phase, voter enumeration forms to be distributed during the survey will be printed and supplied to BLOs.
These forms will contain voter identification numbers, existing voter photographs, QR codes, details from the previous SIR exercise, and other relevant voter information. The pre-filled documents are expected to make the verification process faster and more efficient.
Door-to-Door Survey from June 25
The statewide door-to-door voter verification exercise will begin on June 25 and continue until July 24.
During this period, Booth Level Officers will visit every household in villages, towns and urban areas to verify voter information and collect updated details wherever necessary.
Officials said BLOs will conduct field verification, update records, and ensure eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls. The exercise will also help identify duplicate, shifted or deceased voters.
Draft Rolls on July 31
Following completion of the survey, the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31.
The period for receiving claims and objections will remain open from July 31 to August 30. During this stage, voters can seek corrections, additions or deletions in the voter list.
Election officials will issue notices wherever clarification is required and conduct re-verification of doubtful entries before finalizing the rolls.
The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1 and displayed at Gram Panchayat offices and other designated locations across the state.
Election authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the survey and ensure that their voter information remains accurate and updated.
